"Long Day's Journey Into Night"

Haven't accomplished much in the last month....damn snowstorms in the Northeast, roto-rooter on my knee and general laziness have contributed. BUT....I did make some small progress on finishing Babs' eyes and can now move on to finishing her face before tackling the balance of the painting. This image shows the result of a combination of small washes (alizarin crimson and sepia) and 'dry' (aka, damp) brushwork.

I can't really say that....oops, I think I just did...I have perfected the process because I still leave a lot of blotches that have to  be repaired. But I know how to do it and will get better at it with more experience. This little video shows how I try to correct the 'blotchiness disease'. Try not to have your eyes glaze over!

Amazing, John. I'm so glad to have gotten to see you paint. I admire your patience and deference to accuracy.
